The new owner of a Saddle River home that had more than 100 animals, both dead and alive, inside is worried about his purchase.
Michael Acciardi said he had no idea about the animals when he bought the home on Burning Hollow Road. He said the SPCA told him more than 100 cats and dogs were living inside the home and dozens more were found dead.
?At this point, I didn?t bargain for something that was condemned,? Acciardi said. ?I bargained for something that was at least habitable.?
Acciardi had planned to move his family into the house, but is now working with his attorney to get out of the purchase. He said the fate of the home is in the judge?s hands now.
The former owners, Cynthia Stewart Tamis and her husband, Philip, are facing animal cruelty charges. Their arraignment is scheduled for August 28.
