Rutgers police: 2 motorcycles stolen on the Livingston campus
Police say a U-Haul box truck may be affiliated with the thefts.

The Rutgers University Police Department says two motorcycles were stolen on the Livingston campus in Piscataway earlier this week.
The first theft took place on Sept. 8. Investigators say the victim, who is affiliated with the university, parked his 2006 Ducati motorcycle in lot 103 at approximately 3 p.m. When he returned at 5:20 p.m. on Sept. 10, the bike was gone.
The second theft happened sometime between 1 and 9 p.m. on Sept. 9 in Rutgers parking lot 101, located on Avenue E of the Livingston Campus. The owner told officers he last saw his motorcycle at approximately 1 p.m.
Rutgers police are now searching for a truck that may have been involved in both motorcycle thefts.
"Investigation by the Rutgers Police Detective Bureau has identified a U-Haul box truck as a suspect vehicle involved in the motorcycle thefts," police said.
The thefts come on the heels of a string of motor vehicle burglaries that took place less than a week earlier on the university's Biomedical and Health Sciences campus in Newark.
According to Rutgers police, four vehicles were burglarized on Sept. 4. sometime between 1:01 and 1:42 a.m. In all four incidents, police say the suspects entered the vehicles by breaking the windows before removing items of value from inside the cars.
As the investigations continue, police are reminding people who park on campus to "take reasonable safety precautions." They recommend parking in well-lit, well-trafficked areas whenever possible, staying alert and reporting suspicious activity. Police also suggest that drivers avoid leaving valuable items unsecured or unattended in their vehicles.
