Route 22 in Somerset County has reopened after closing for emergency repairs due to this week's flash flooding.

The state Department of Transportation says there was severe damage in four locations on Route 22. That includes sections where the roadway buckled and heaved and sections where the median barrier dislodged and washed into travel lanes.

Debris was also covering the highway, and abandoned cars that were caught in the flood waters needed to be removed.

The North Plainfield Police Department shared the four tow companies they use. They say if your vehicle was on a public roadway, it was most likely towed by police using George Aller Towing, B&B Towing, NP Auto or Majestic Towing.

Vehicles that were towed from private property and/or businesses may have been towed by outside companies.

North Plainfield police say they will investigate if any vehicles were illegally towed or if any price gouging occurs.
