Rallies were held across the state of New
Jersey on Saturday in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v
Wade.
The move ended 50 years of precedent over the
right to an abortion across the nation.
Many people in Newark demonstrated outside of
City Hall to speak out against the ruling and to support abortion rights.
Register nurse JoAnne Devine told News 12 she
was “gutted” when she heard the ruling.
“My Catholic upbringing instilled a sense of
social justice in me and overturning Roe versus Wade is not justice,” said
Devine.
The rally was organized by the Women’s March
movement.
