A man from Orange says that he is lucky to be alive after he was robbed at gunpoint outside his home.
Garfield Lennon, 52, tells News 12 New Jersey that he was unloading his car after shopping with his fiancee when he came face to face with a gunman.
"I stop and I feel someone touching me on my shoulder," says Lennon. "He said 'Don't move and if you move I'll blow one in your head.'"
The gunman stole Lennon's phone, money and all his credit cards and then ran away.
Lennon says he was quite shaken after the incident because he thought he was going to be shot.
"I've never heard that voice before," he says. "Then I feel a coldness in my head and I realize it's a real gun."
Lennon and his fiancee filed a police report with Orange police and also reported the credit cards stolen to the credit card company.
When he reported the card stolen, he found out that less than an hour after he was robbed, the gunman used the card to buy a meal from McDonald's. It was less than a mile from Lennon's house.
Now police are using surveillance cameras from the McDonald's to hopefully zero in on the suspect.
Lennon says having his fiancee around has really helped him cope with the trauma.
"I know she's there for me, and I'm there for her," he says. "We are going to make it. No matter what happens, we are going to make it."
Anyone who might have any information about the robbery should contact Orange police.
