Bougiefire combines a candle-making experience with a boutique shopping destination, giving visitors the chance to blend their own signature scent and pour a personalized candle.
"'Bougie' in French means candle, and I love the double entendre," said owner Christiana Poling. "You're able to come in, make your own 10-ounce custom candle and we're also a boutique."
The experience begins with choosing from about 40 different fragrances.
"A lot of people come in and they really don't know what they want, so it's kind of fun to go on that journey with them," Poling said.
After selecting scents, guests choose a vessel, mix the fragrances into warm wax and add personal touches before hand-pouring their candle.
The entire process takes about an hour.
While candles cool, visitors can explore the shop's selection of gifts, home décor and specialty items.
Poling says every candle is unique because no two customers create the exact same fragrance blend.
"Scents hold memories, and being able to do an experience with someone is just another way to create those memories," Poling said. "I wanted to really create a space where people can connect, relax and kind of escape the world."
Whether it's a date night, birthday celebration or afternoon with friends, Bougiefire offers a hands-on experience that allows visitors to leave with something completely their own.
