A miniature toy gun was secured by police from a Bergen County student after it raised concerns from the school.

The plastic toy was determined by police not to show any threat and was not used to commit or attempt to commit a crime.

No further police action was required. The Ridgewood Police Department posted about the Jan. 31 incident on Facebook:

“We urge all parents to ensure that their children do not possess a toy (regardless if it has orange markings or other common indicators of being a toy) that may be considered a weapon by any person while they are in public places, especially our schools.”
