A bank in Bergen County has done away with tellers to move forward into the 21st century.

The PNC Bank branch in Ridgewood is the first of its kind. Instead of tellers, the bank uses tablets that are set out for customers.

Representatives for the bank say that it made sense to do the switch, because most people do their banking without any human interaction anyway.

"PNC market research showed clients are no longer going to traditional branches -- doing banking on the phone or electronically," says Ludmila Golad of PNC Wealth Management. "This addressed that new trend in banking."

Bank officials say that the tellers are now trained in other areas of banking so that the new technology does not force anyone to lose their jobs.
