The Ridgefield Park Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its officers, Steven Fernandez, following a fatal snowmobile accident.
Fernandez, aged 39, was involved in a crash while snowmobiling on a trail in the Adirondacks, New York, on Saturday.
According to New York State Police, he lost control of his snowmobile, leading to him sliding down a steep embankment and colliding with trees.
He was subsequently airlifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
