Hundreds of residents were allowed back into an Asbury Park apartment building Friday after a fire, but others are still without a home.
More than 130 apartments in the Munroe Towers were evacuated Thursday after a fire broke out in a 14th-floor unit. Fire officials believe the fire was accidental and caused by an electrical problem. However, they say due to the extent of the damage, the exact cause won?t be known. Investigators believe the fire was fueled by what they call ?excessive contents? in the apartment.
Fire officials are now deciding what floors can be reopened. Residents of the first 10 floors are allowed into the building, but will be without elevators and gas. Fire officials say the top three floors of the building will be closed for at least three weeks.
