Police in three North Jersey towns are investigating a series of home invasions that occurred within the span of an hour this past Saturday morning.
In Bloomfield, surveillance video caught three people running out of a backyard near Montgomery Street after a neighbor said they broke a window and tried to get inside a house.
"The lady was a little scared. It was through her bedroom window that they tried to get inside. They broke the window, that's when she woke up and called the police," Olimpia Cordero said.
A similar incident took place in Clifton. Police say multiple suspects managed to break into a house on 4th Street, going through several rooms while the family was sleeping. Jewelry and car keys were stolen, according to officials.
Ruth, who has been living in the area for a decade, says she no longer feels safe.
“It makes us feel unsecure because it is not something that happens frequently. For us, this has been a quiet neighborhood," she said.
Then, in Montclair, a homeowner on Union Street tells News 12 that three people broke into his home while he and his family were asleep. They woke up to the sound of their alarm.
The suspects were able to run away with car keys.
It is still unclear if all three incidents are related.
