Dressed in traditional 1890s attire, workers at the Longstreet Farm in Holmdel give New Jersey residents a firsthand look at ice cutting. In the late 1800s, ice cutting was a way of life for New Jersey residents. In the winter months, people didn't worry about keeping dairy products cool, but in the summer months those products needed to be kept cold with ice. Workers at the farm say the ice cutting reenactment helps people remember a time when life wasn?t so convenient and makes people appreciate what residents have today.
