A new report by the Anti-Defamation League finds that anti-Semitic incidents have increased in New Jersey.
The report looked at incidents from 2017 and found that Bergen County had 40 incidents, the most in the state.
The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly was just one of many centers that received bomb threats last year.
CEO Jordan Shenker says that he thinks one of the reasons for the increase in incidents is that people are more willing to report suspicious activity.
"The impact on community is, it creates a sense of anxiety and fear in people,” he says. “But at the same time, it also emboldens people and creates a sense of community, people coming together."
Bergen County saw 28 anti-Semitic incidents in 2016.
