Bergen County prosecutors say a murder-suicide left two people dead in Carlstadt Saturday.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office says the gunman was a known criminal.
Police say they found a woman dead in the 6th Street house when they entered the residence around 8 p.m. after an hourslong standoff with a sex offender.
Prosecutors say the other person was found dead by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Neighbors were told to shelter in place for hours during the incident.
