A congressman from New Jersey is leading the fight to help lower the cost of prescription drugs.
Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone says that a bill he is working on would require prices of some of the highest cost drugs be negotiated by the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services and the manufacturers. Many of the same drugs are sold in foreign countries for a fraction of the price.
“We shouldn't be paying for the research when everyone else doesn't and there's more than enough money for research,” Pallone says.
The congressman says that he believes that his bill will pass the U.S. House this fall. He says that he is optimistic that the Senate and President Donald Trump will support the bill.
