New Jersey Rep. Josh Gottheimer announced new legislation on Friday that aims to keep veterans safe and support their mental health.
The Vets Act would require a resident advocate at be present at every veterans home in New Jersey and across the country.
This comes after two local veterans homes run by the state were investigated for their COVID-19 response.
Gottheimer also introduced the Help Act, which is designed to help veterans and active duty service members get access to mental health care.
Gottheimer said both bills are bipartisan.
