A new study says New Year’s resolutions are going to look a little different this year.
A recent survey by Stop & Shop found how more than 500 people across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts responded to New Year’s resolutions, traditions and celebrations.
The survey shows more than half of resolutions are to eat healthier – a resolution that is pretty common for the new year. And 39% of people want to reduce stress. This resolution takes priority over going to the gym.
The Stop & Shop survey found:
  • 58% of respondents have a New Year's resolution to eat healthier
  • 39% of respondents want to reduce stress while 27% want to get back into the gym
  • 49% of people will be purging all the junk food in their home
  • 46% will observe "Dry January" in 2024
"The most surprising result to us was that people would rather reduce their stress levels than get back into the gym," Stop & Shop Registered Dietitian Emily Hayes said in a statement. "We are happy to see that people are prioritizing their mental health in 2024, knowing this helps support overall wellness.
