A Randolph teen, who recently learned first aid techniques in school, is being hailed as a hero.
Sam Baron, 15, says he sprung into action Saturday when a woman collapsed near his home. He says he used the CPR techniques he learned in class to save the woman. The first aid class is mandatory at Pingry School in Martinsville.
?It is ironic ? I just received this [first aid certification] card just the other day,? Baron says. ?I said to my parents, ?Gee I hope I never have to use it? and lo and behold.?
Police say the woman suffered an apparent heart attack. They credit Baron with saving her life. Authorities say the woman is recovering at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Baron hopes to someday meet the woman he helped save.
