A group of demonstrators rallying for better benefits for immigrant workers stopped traffic for a few minutes on the New Jersey Turnpike on Monday afternoon.
The group was rallying to demand COVID-19 relief for essential immigrant workers. They are calling for billions of dollars in recovery aid.
At one point, the protestors got out of their cars and held up signs in the middle of the highway.
"We want to make sure all of our families are covered. Economic relief means for everybody,” one of the protesters said.
Undocumented immigrants are not eligible to receive unemployment benefits in New Jersey.
