A mayor in Unity County has a plan of his own to help New Jersey get out of the red.
Five-term Rahway Mayor Jim Kennedy announced his plan to sell City Hall during his State of the City address. Kennedy wants to replace City Hall with retail shops, condos and a hotel. According to Kennedy, new housing and stores are going up behind City Hall and businesses on the other side of the building would be cut off. Kennedy says there is no need to have two separate districts, so his plans call for combining the two by getting rid of City Hall.
Kennedy says City Hall would move into the top two floors of the library. The mayor is hoping to win people over once a developer formally shows off design plans in February. Kennedy would call the proposed district Town Center at Rahway.
