Queso fresco made by El Abuelito linked to listeria outbreak in the tri-state area

Queso fresco sold under the brand names of El Abuelito, Rio Grande, and Rio Lindo is being recalled across the tri-state area due to a listeria outbreak.
El Abuelito Cheese Inc., based in Paterson, New Jersey, is recalling all queso fresco products with sell-by dates through March 28, 2021. The products are sold as El Abuelito Cheese brand, distributed in Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
Connecticut officials found the outbreak strain of listeria in samples of El Abuelito brand queso fresco cheese collected from a store where a sick person bought El Abuelito brand cheeses.
So far, nine people have been hospitalized due to listeria.
