Newark native, hip-hop icon, and Academy Award nominee Queen Latifah is set to take center stage as the official host for a massive, historic Independence Day celebration at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

America250, the nonpartisan congressional commission leading the nation's 250th anniversary commemoration of the Declaration of Independence, announced that the entertainment legend will guide audiences through "America’s Block Party" on July 4. The landmark concert event will feature performances by country superstar Chris Stapleton and alternative rock icons The Smashing Pumpkins, with more artists to be named in the coming weeks.

As the official host, Queen Latifah will serve as the anchor for the entire evening, guiding the live and broadcast audiences through a historic lineup of musical performances, stories of community impact, and moments of national pride.

The event is designed to kick off "Giving 4th," a new national initiative created by America250 that encourages Americans to pledge charitable donations to nonprofits and causes they care about. Queen Latifah's role will be central to inspiring that national generosity throughout the star-studded evening.

“Los Angeles knows how to put on a show, and hosting America’s Block Party at the LA Coliseum is going to be something special,” Queen Latifah said regarding the announcement. “This is a chance to celebrate a once-in-a-generation milestone with great music, real energy, and a purpose that reaches far beyond the stadium.”

While Queen Latifah commands the stage at the LA Coliseum, the concert will serve as the West Coast anchor for a nationwide, "sea-to-shining-sea" digital and live celebration connecting major cities and local communities.

Ticket holders can arrive early at the venue starting at 3:00 p.m. PDT to enjoy a pre-event Block Party Village featuring free food, drinks, music, and giveaways. The main event, anchored by Queen Latifah, officially kicks off at 6:00 p.m. PDT and will culminate in a massive fireworks and drone spectacular.

Tickets for the historic event go on sale June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PDT at America250.org/LA. Fans nationwide can also download the official America’s Block Party app to stream the event live, participate in the "Giving 4th" campaign, and find local block parties near them.
