Actress Queen Latifah says that she is doing her part to help let others know that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe.
The Newark native got vaccinated in her hometown on Tuesday night. She said that the shot “is here to prepare our bodies to fight” the virus.
“To see someone in a hospital on a ventilator is much more frightening than what’s going to happen getting this shot,” she said. “I want to know it out. I’m here to step up to the plate and handle my business. Get on with the business of living life.”
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka thanked her for being a part of this effort.
Queen Latifah is currently starring in the television series “The Equalizer,” which films in New Jersey.
