Baseball season may have been postponed, but it is not stopping the Trenton Thunder from training its newest member.
Dash is three months old and it the team’s newest bat dog. He is currently undergoing training at Green Leaf Pet Resort in Millstone Township.
Dash works with trainer Shelly Leibowitz up to six times a week in 15-minute intervals throughout the day.
Leibowitz also trained bat dogs Derby and Rookie and says that Dash is his most ambitious puppy yet.
“Dash has a lot of energy, quite the personality. He seems to be comfortable in all different environments, so we started off training with a little baseball bat,” Leibowitz says.
Dash is the fourth bat dog in the team’s history. He and Rookie are cousins. Dash will make his officials debut in the 2021 season.
