While the 10 new Mega Millions winners are all in jubilation right now, a psychologist, who has treated previous lottery winners, hopes they can avoid the pitfalls others have faced.
"It becomes difficult when relatives all come by and want to borrow money," says Dr. Rosalind Dorlen. "The more you've won, the more relatives and friends you find you have had that you never knew you had."
Rosalind says winners should be prepared to be viewed differently by colleagues, friends and others.
"People tend to be envious when another person has all this good fortune," she says.
The psychologist added that winners can't go back to their old lives after hitting it big.
"This is a life-altering experience," she says.
