PSEG Long Island reminded customers of ways to stay safe during hot weather.
First and foremost, customers are advised to stay in air-conditioned spaces, if possible.
They should stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoid drinks with caffeine or alcohol.
Avoid wearing dark colors because it attracts heat to the body.
Never leave children or pets alone in vehicles.
If you can, try to avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day, which is typically between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
