A New Jersey mother has been charged with murder in the death of her 4-year-old
son, prosecutors say.
Police say they received a
911 call from Elina Gutti, 38, of South Bound Brook at around 2 :30 a.m.
Saturday regarding unexplained injuries on her wrist.
Officers responded to the scene on Cedar Street where they located
the child, Aiden Singhania,
with severe lacerations.
Emergency medical personnel attempted
life-saving measures, but Singhania was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gutti was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation by police.
After an investigation, Gutti was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon
for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree
unlawful possession of a knife.
She will be transported to the Somerset County Jail once released from the hospital, pending a
bail detention hearing.
