A Newark man found guilty of fatally stabbing his roommate at a homeless shelter has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.
The Essex County prosecutor says Michael Wylie snuck a knife into a homeless shelter in February 2022. He then stabbed his roommate, Kevin Williams, in the face, neck and heart.
Authorities say Wylie was arrested while still in possession of the weapon. He was found guilty of aggravated manslaughter and possession charges in April.
He must serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole, according to authorities.
