Prosecutor: Man dies from injuries sustained in Lyndhurst fire

The fire started inside a home on Jay Avenue just after 5:30 a.m. Thursday. Officials say 27-year-old Ahmed Abidar died on Friday.

A 27-year-old man injured in a fire in Lyndhurst Thursday morning has died from his injuries, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
The fire started inside a home on Jay Avenue just after 5:30 a.m. Thursday. Officials say Ahmed Abidar was found on the third floor of the home. They say that first responders performed CPR on Abidar and took him to Clara Maass Medical Center. Officials say that Abidar died on Friday from his injuries.
Several other people rescued from the fire were also taken to the hospital and treated for injuries.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Officials say that it does not appear to be suspicious.
