One person has been taken to the hospital, and is in critical but stable condition, following an early morning house fire broke out in Lyndhurst.

According to Lyndhurst Fire Department Chief Paul Haggerty the fire started in the basement.

The home on Jay Avenue just off Court Avenue was destroyed.

Two people self-extricated from the second floor, the final victim was pulled from the home by a search team.

Red Cross officials say they are providing emergency assistance to four people in two families. They say an additional three people were taken to the hospital, and will assist them as well if needed.

Still no word on a cause for the fire.
