Two people are facing charges for allegedly defacing an LGBTQ+ mural in Perth Amboy, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials say Alexis Reynozo, 19, and a 17-year-old boy defaced the mural located on Brighton Avenue and Sadowski Parkway.

Officials say that on Aug. 16, witnesses reported to police that at least two vehicles were performing burnouts on the mural. “Social media videos surfaced online of the incident accompanied by anti-LGBTQIA+ language,” authorities wrote in a statement.

Reynozo and the 17-year-old Hopelawn teen were identified as the suspects.

Reynozo was charged with bias intimidation and criminal mischief. The 17-year-old was charged with juvenile delinquency due to his age.
