More than $19 billion could be on its way to New Jersey schools.
The aid is part of Gov. Phil Murphy’s 2023 budget plan. The proposal includes $650 million in aid for K-12 schools.
The governor visited Chatham High School on Friday to tout the plan. The Chatham School District could get more than $530,000.
"The principal said that they had 800-something kids in the middle of the last decade - like 2005 or 2006. They're now up to 1,100 or 1,200. It just tells you this is the sort of town where people come in and trip over themselves to come in here. Great quality of life, great public education,” Murphy said.
The budget proposal includes aid increases for every school district in the 21st Legislative District, including towns in Morris, Union and Somerset counties.
