(08/18/06) TRENTON ? Senate candidate Edward Forchion isn?t in danger of shaking up the November elections, but he certainly tried to rattle some residents with a Trenton flag-burning protest Friday.
Forchion is a member of the Legalize Marijuana Party who went to prison on conspiracy to possess marijuana charges in 1997. The candidate recently lost custody of his 11-year-old daughter, which he says is due to his pro-marijuana stance. Forchion says he held the flag burning demonstration to protest a court system that has gone to pot.
Although Forchion had planned to burn a large American flag, fear of arrest caused him to change course and burn a small one instead. Forchion says he knows he won?t win the upcoming election. However, he hopes the demonstration helped shed light on his cause.
