Princeton changes Columbus Day to ‘Indigenous People's Day’

The city of Princeton is changing the name of the holiday that falls on the second Monday in October to "Indigenous People's Day" instead of Columbus Day.

The city of Princeton is changing the name of the holiday that falls on the second Monday in October to "Indigenous People's Day" instead of Columbus Day.
A resolution passed unanimously back on Sept. 9.
Princeton now becomes the second city in New Jersey to make the switch, after Newark was the first back in 2017.
Mayor Ras Baraka changed the name in his city using an executive order.
