President Joe Biden held a naturalization ceremony Friday to make the dreams of 21 immigrants come true by becoming U.S. citizens.
During the ceremony, Biden also recognized Sandra Lindsay, of Port Washington, as an Outstanding American by Choice.
Lindsay, an ICU nurse at Northwell Health, was honored for her bravery as the first American to roll up her sleeve for a COVID-19 vaccine outside of a clinical trial.
Biden also called for citizenship for so-called Dreamers -- immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children. He also wants it for farmers as well as foreign-born people who have temporary protected status.
"It's dreams and immigrants like you that built America and continue to inject new energy, new vitality, new strength," says Biden.
