The FIFA World Cup won’t be held until next summer. But the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is already preparing.
The agency has been a part of weekly meetings with law enforcement departments from the local level all the way up to international police.
Security is a little different for the World Cup because the tournament lasts for 40 days.
Part of the prep work includes upgrades to the PATH and the Midtown Bus Terminal to ensure fans are able to arrive without any issues.
To complicate matters, the World Cup also happens to fall during the United States’ 250th birthday celebrations.
