Pork products recalled over possible Listeria contamination
Prime Line Distributors Inc. and Hoboken-based Ferrarini USA Inc. are recalling about 1,513 pounds of ready-to-eat pork jowl, also known as guanciale, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

More than 1,500 pounds of imported pork products are being recalled because they may be contaminated with Listeria.
Prime Line Distributors Inc. and Hoboken-based Ferrarini USA Inc. are recalling about 1,513 pounds of ready-to-eat pork jowl, also known as guanciale, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The pork was imported from Italy and shipped to distributors and food-service locations in several states, including New Jersey and New York.
The USDA says a sample of the pork tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes during routine testing.
So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products.
If you have any of the recalled pork products in your refrigerator or freezer, do not eat them. The USDA says consumers should either throw the products away or return them to the place where they were purchased.
Listeria can cause serious illness, particularly in older adults, young children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems
People who eat food contaminated with Listeria can develop symptoms including fever, muscle aches, tiredness, and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
