Police in Hamilton have arrested a man accused of stealing packages from a porch while armed with a gun.

Officials say Calvin Stevens of New Brunswick is charged with theft and several weapon offenses.

Police say Stevens swiped packages from a home on Lewis Avenue and Steward Street last week.

When officers tried to arrest him, he ran but was then caught.

A pistol was found along with the stolen packages.

Stevens is being held in the Mercer County Jail.
