“Where we droppin’ boys?”
The popular video game “Fortnite” has taken the world by storm, so it should come as no surprise that the game was what New Jerseyans Googled the most this year, according to Google Trends.
The game puts 100 players on an island and makes them battle it out until there is only one person or team left standing.
The game is free to play, but developer Epic Games has made millions this year selling accessories for the characters.
Epic Games has also made “Fortnite” stand out among the sea of other video games by constantly adding new updates and by communicating often with its player base.
“Fortnite” is especially popular among preteens and teenagers. It is so popular that the owner of a laser tag field in Flemington has tailored his business around the game.
“We took about a month to test out the game mode in real life on our field, which is an outdoor tactical laser tag field,” says Victor Pellegrini, owner of
Bullseye Virtual Combat. “We started running public events and private birthday parties, and it was phenomenal. Both the response from both kids and parents."
The No. 2 and No. 3 most Googled terms in New Jersey for 2018 were “2018 World Cup” and “Gmail Login.”
