A park in Teaneck has been shut down after officials found pollutants in the soil. A private contractor discovered levels of PCBs in one section of the Milton Votee Park that exceeded New Jersey standards. Officials have set up yellow caution tape around the section of the park where the higher-than-normal levels of PCBs were found. The levels exceed New Jersey standards, but are lower than federal EPA standards. Exposure to PCBs can cause cancer as well as other health problems.

The township's manager says officials will collect additional soil samples from other areas of the park in the coming weeks. The township will then hold a series of public meetings to share the results and discuss plans for remediation.
