A new survey by the Port Authority is asking commuters if they would pay more for a quicker ride through the Lincoln tunnel.
Many commuters say the traffic to get through the tunnel is horrendous. One of the options offered in a survey sent home to drivers would allow people to pay $30 to shave 35 minutes off their commute time.
The Port Authority is calling the proposed fast lane ?High Occupancy Toll.? The HOT lane would guarantee a quicker trip.
Some commuters think the fast lane is a great idea no matter what the price. However, others feel adding the fast lane would take away a lane from everyone else, who didn?t pay extra.
The survey was sent out to drivers who have Port Authority-issued E-ZPasses. It was also handed out at some cash toll booths last week.
