Police: Woman intentionally coughed on police officers, claimed she had coronavirus

Police say a woman from Wayne has been accused of intentionally coughing on police officers and lying about having the coronavirus.

Police say a woman from Wayne has been accused of intentionally coughing on police officers and lying about having the coronavirus.

The incident happened last Thursday in Hanover Township.

According to police, Lea Piazza, 28, was pulled over and asked to perform a field sobriety test.
Police say that’s when she coughed on them, saying, "Oh by the way, I have the coronavirus and so do you now.”
Piazza was arrested and issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, careless driving, reckless driving and refusal.

Piazza said her boyfriend had it and he was from New York. Her comments were eventually proved to be false.
The three officers were put into quarantine, but have since been released.
Piazza was charged with causing a false public alarm, and released pending her court date.
