Police say a woman was killed trying to cross Route 46 in Elmwood Park.

The accident happened last night near the 7-Eleven on the highway.

According to police, the 27-year old Passaic woman was trying to cross the highway when she was hit by the driver of a pick-up truck.

Police say the woman died at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and will not be charged.
