Police in Old Bridge say a woman is dead after the vehicle she was driving went off the roadway into a tree.

According to police, the 65-year-old woman was driving a black Hyundai Accent west on Ferry Road early this morning when she veered off the road into a tree.

Paramedics performed CPR at the scene before she was transported to the hospital across the street.

She died there a short time later.

Police have not identified the woman, pending family notification.
