Police say a West New York man was arrested after he pretended to be a nurse to attack women.

The man, Herman Brightman, posed as a New York City nurse to gain the trust of women and then kidnap, stalk and assault them, police say.

Brightman used Facebook and Hinge to meet women posing as a nurse by posting pictures and videos of himself in scrubs, according to officers.

Prosecutors added in July 2022, Brightman traveled from to New York and forced a woman he recently dated and her child at knifepoint to travel back to his home in New Jersey. He released them the next morning.

At least four women have been involved in the same incidents with Brightman.
