Police: Kearny man arrested for fatal Lyndhurst hit-and-run

A Kearny resident is facing multiple charges stemming from a hit-and-run crash that killed a man Thursday in Lyndhurst.
Police say George Arnold, 57, was fatally struck just before 10 p.m. on Ridge Road near Milton Avenue.
Authorities have identified the driver as 29-year-old Steveen Novillo-Cabrera.
Police say he attempted to fix the damage on his Honda Civic to hide his involvement in the crash.
The charges against him include knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, hindering apprehension, endangering an injured victim, tampering with evidence and other motor vehicle offenses.
Novillo-Cabrera remains in Bergen County Jail awaiting his court date, according to authorities.
