Police: Suspect charged in Paterson carjacking

The Paterson Police Department announced says Imani McRae, 31, has been charged with multiple offenses related to a carjacking that took occurred on Aug. 12 in the area of 20th and Railroad avenues in Paterson.
Upon arriving at the scene of the crime, officers were approached by a 41-year-old female and a 47-year-old female who said they were employed by a New Jersey agency and were transporting Imani McRae and her 7-year-old child to Paterson. They claimed that McRae became agitated and assaulted them inside the vehicle when they arrived in the area of 20th and Railroad avenues.
They were forced to exit the vehicle, at which point McRae fled the scene in the motor vehicle with the 7-year-old juvenile.
Police located and apprehended McRae around 4:33 p.m.
The charges against McRae are first-degree carjacking, second-degree robbery, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of third-degree terroristic threats and two counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault.
She is also charged with third-degree eluding, fourth-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree hindering apprehension.
