Neighbors in a South Toms River neighborhood say that they are on edge after an evening shootout in the area.
The bullets struck nearby cars, garbage cans and possibly even homes around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
“Broad daylight. Shooting in broad daylight. Who does that?” asks neighbor Sandy Neal. “It’s terrible.”
Neal lives along Charles Avenue. He says that he heard at least four or five gunshots.
When police arrived, they say that they found bullet holes and shell casings up and down the road. Officials would not confirm how many gunshots were fired or if any homes were actually hit. It was not clear if any arrests had been made.
No one was hurt.
“It’s crazy that you can’t even come outside and play in your yard without someone shooting,” says Neal. “It’s bad. My wife, she wants to move.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Toms River Police Department or the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
