A man fatally shot an outlet store manager before turning the gun on himself at an Atlantic City outlet mall, according to police.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office say 55-year-old Lewis Maisonet, of Somers Point, shot and killed 26-year-old Christopher Romero, of Absecon, around noon on Thursday, before turning the gun on himself.
The shooting happened inside the Zumiez store at The Walk, where Romero was the store manager.
Officials are calling it a domestic related incident, but a motive for the shooting remains unclear.
Romero was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Maisonet remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Shoppers at a Bass Pro Shops store told the Press of Atlantic City that they were told to get into "lockdown mode" and move to the back. Eddie Valerio says shoppers were released after 10 minutes and everyone in the store was fine.
Zumiez chief executive Rick Brooks says the company is tremendously saddened by the violence that occurred in the store. Brooks says the company is working with local law enforcement.
