Police in Newark are searching for the driver of a car they say struck and injured a 3-year-old boy and then drove off without stopping.
Newark officials say that the suspect was driving a black convertible Mercedes-Benz. It happened around 5:20 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say the child followed a relative into the street, and the relative was unaware that the child was in the road until the accident occurred.
The boy was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries and has since been released.
Anyone who might have any information about the incident is asked to contact Newark police.
